After fifty years of wandering across the face of the Earth, I went back to Volhynia, to my birthplace. I remembered that there was a delightfully developed osada in which stood my home surrounded by a garden and fertile fields. Nothing ... but nothing remained of any of this ... Everything had been razed to the ground. Even trees and forests had been put to the torch, so that no-one could recognise his roots and wouldn't dare put a claim to it.
